The large Prague airport is located in the west of Prague, about 11 kilometers from the city center. Vaclav Havel Airport Prague can only be reached by bus. There is no connection to the underground or tram. Several bus lines connect Prague Airport with the Metro and the city centre. Departures are frequent, tickets are cheap.
Our Prague tip: Private airport transfer without stressThe problem: Using public transport from the airport to the hotel in Prague is not easy. You first have to take the airport bus to the subway (metro), then take the metro to the city centre and then often take the tram to the hotel. Sometimes there are no escalators (carrying suitcases) in the subway. Above all, it is not easy to find the right bus or tram in a foreign city. The solution: A private airport transfer directly from the airport to the hotel. The service in Prague is not too expensive and very popular. The airport transfer has very good ratings on the Internet. Yourjourney begins without stress. Lines Airport Bus Prague (Prague Airport Transfer)
Most buses are normal city buses, which can be used with normal local transport tickets.
From our point of view, the most important line is line 119: These airport buses connect Prague Airport with the nearest underground station. It is a station of line A (in Prague there are three metro lines A, B and C). The name of the metro station is Nadrazi Veleslavin. The journey time between the airport and the metro-station is about 20 minutes. Departures are very frequent, during the week about every 5 minutes during the day.
Also very useful is line 100: Similar to bus line 119, but to a subway station of line B (name Zlicin). Also frequent and good connections, travel time a bit longer than line 119.
AE Bus to Central Station: A real airport bus, direct to Prague Central Station with few stops. In normal traffic it takes a little more than half an hour to get to the main station. These buses cost slightly more (about 2,50 Euro instead of 1,50 Euro). Departures of the airport bus line AE are also frequent.
Line 191: This bus line also goes to the subway (Metro A and B). But this buses takes longer, especially to line B. To the station Andel (south of Prague Lesser Town) it takes more than 45 minutes.
There is also a night bus line. However, changing to night trams from the airport night bus is quite difficult, you should know Prague well. In addition you often wait very long for connection.

Using the buses is extremely inexpensive. You need a normal ticket for the Prague public transport for 90 minutes. It costs 32 Czech crowns, which is less than 1,50 Euro (summer 2018). The AE line (express bus, direct transfer to Prague Central Station) is somewhat more expensive, but also inexpensive. A ticket costs about 60 koruna (about 2.30 euros) one way.
